What is UPVC?

UPVC stands for un-plasticised polyvinyl chloride. It is like PVC but is tougher and doesn’t flex. This material also doesn’t contain any harmful substances so is strong, safe and completely water and fire resistant, as such it is now used for many thing including window frames, window sills, doors, fascia, cladding and plumbing. Furthermore, the colour isn’t just on the surface so the colour will never fade and if the material gets scratched it can be polished out without need to be re-painted. Finally, everyone loves it as it is lightweight, durable, easy to work with, cost efficient and recyclable.

What is Cladding?

Cladding is the layer of material on the external of a building that provides a layer of protection against weather. It is most commonly installed around windows, doors, chimneys, and roofs and is made of either metal or plastic. Cladding stops leaking windows and doors and prevents water damage and mould growth.

What are Fascia Boards?

The fascia boards are used to form a fascia, which is a box that is fixed to the lower edges of a roof and support the bottom row of tile and the guttering. The three types of facia boards are the barge box, box end and soffit. The barge box is at the corners of the roof and accommodate for the many different angles of the fascia. The barge box is on the board used on the triangular part of the roof, normally at the front or back of the roof. Soffit Boards Are the Piece of material at the bottom of a fascia that allows air to ventilate into the roof.

What is Soffit Board?

Soffit Boards are the piece of material at the bottom of a fascia that allows air to ventilate into the roof. Without adequate ventilation condensation will form in the roof increasing the risk of the wood decaying and rotting. The soffit is also the part of the Fascia that is seen the most.
